The Wingatui Community Hall Society (Inc) has been in existence since 1960 operating out of the old tearooms at the Otago Racing Club.
In 1978 a new site was bought and earthworks started on the site and a new hall was opened in April 1982 after being built by voluntary labour.
The hall is owned by the residents of the Wingatui area which the boundaries encompass Gladstone Road North, Wingatui Road both sides, Soper Road, Factory Road from Wingatui Road North, Puddle Alley Road from Factory Road to Gladstone Road North, Guy Road, Magazine Road, Paterson Road and Henderson Street.
The hall is registered for 199 people and is available for hire to residents of the Dunedin City Council area. It has a large main hall, a smaller room off the main hall (supper room), large kitchen, a bar and accessible toilets. It is available for weddings, dances, birthdays, indoor bowls and a variety of other events.
