Mosgiel’s massive new variety store is set to open on Wednesday, November 4 in the former Postie building on Gordon Rd.
Giant Variety Store hopes to open on October 31 depending on shipping, selling giftware, homeware, stationery, plastics, cosmetics, arts and crafts, toys and partyware. Director Anand Patel, who owns Good as Gold on Factory Rd, said the new store would offer a range of quality and affordable products.
“A lot of stuff has come from the US, Australia and we have used many New Zealand wholesalers. We are keeping a good watch on the quality of the products. For instance, we have a supply of New Zealand-designed cards with a story on the back.”
Mr Patel said they would definitely open before the first week of November. The store would open Monday to Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
The name Giant Variety Store was chosen because of the massive 750sq m floor space. Also, the items are “quite different from the dollar shop” items.
“We feel it is going to be a good response. Once people come in they will know that things are different. The quality is different.”
