Taieri Traditional Karate Centre
END OF TERM 2921 v2.
Description

Taieri Traditional Karate Centre will focus on preserving the traditional elements of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do. We do not hold tournaments but are a member of IOGKFNZ.

Karate training is designed for people to practice at any age and aside from being great for self-defence, it helps you to improve your strength, concentration, flexibility, co-ordination and self discipline.  The benefits of karate training will help you in all areas of your life.

We run classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Methodist Church Hall, 2 Wickliffe St, Mosgiel (right beside Countdown). Classes are Pee Wees 5.30pm to 6pm, Combined Class including beginners from 6pm to 7pm and Intermediate class from 6pm to 7.30pm. We are a family-orientated club and new members are always welcome!

The centre is led by Sensei Gail Anderson, a 3rd degree Black Belt, who started training in 1984 in Australia.  She relocated to Dunedin New Zealand in 1993.  After training  for numerous years, she took a break, only to return to the dojo in 2018.

Gail has trained in dojos  throughout the world.  She has also successfully competed at national and international level.  Her most recent overseas training trip was to Okinawa in 2019.  She now wishes to inspire others, in the Taieri region, to follow the path of traditional karate.
